4th flags

Israel volunteered to help the Boy Scouts in our neighborhood put up and take down flags for the 4th of July. He and Shem went around at 6am putting flags in for those neighbors who donated to the cause.

At 6:30 that night they went back out to collect the flags. He let the three kids and Brandon ride in the back of the truck as they wandered through the neighborhood picking up flags. He then dropped the kids off at his mom's and headed to the church to put them in the storage shed. After leaving the neighborhood, he got pulled over by a sheriff!

The sheriff asked him for licence and registration and went back to check out his info. He then came and asked Israel what he was doing with all of the flags in the back of the truck. Israel explained to him about the scouts and even pointed to the church where another man in our ward was putting more flags in the shed.

The sheriff told him that a "concerned citizen" in the neighborhood saw him "stealing" flags and that is why he was pulled over. Right. Stealing flags from our own neighborhood with kids in the back of the truck! I wonder if the "concerned citizen" would have called if it was ME picking up flags!!!!!

hard to ask

I am not one to ask for help. I would much rather just do it on my own. Yet here I am, can't do much, and have had to ask for help. Seriously - I don't like it. I do just want to say "Thank You" to everyone (family and friends) who have helped out with the kids and with meals to make this time of bed rest more tolerable for all of us! I love you!!!

good night kiss

Last night Arianna said, "Mom, I want to give the baby a good night kiss!"

So she grabbed my belly and kissed it.

Then she asked (as serious as ever), "So, did I just kiss his cheek or his bottom?"

It was hilarious!!!!

The Body

We have been learning about our bodies, so we decided to make life size drawings of ourselves and all our inside parts. Today we were working on the digestive system. As we cut out each part, we talked about its function.

Shem and I were talking about what the large intestine does. He said, "It sucks out all the extra water and then holds the left over food til you have to poop."

Arianna said, "Ew! I don't want one of those in my body!"

Shem and I just looked at each other. I could see him trying to figure out what would happen if we DIDN'T have a large intestine...
